The regulator started with its own rulebook: "we took our legal regulatory framework and we digitized it and so by digitizing it we have given ourselves a source of data information", and it is now building on that with the MBZ university for artificial intelligence in Abu Dhabi to "identify the key areas of legislation that relate to a particular activity". The same work runs into authorisation, where AI reviews and digests the data applicants file, and into supervision, where AI reads financial reports so the regulator can "identify where the risks are and potential breaches are". AI is also used for translating legal documents.
